Individual Note

CENSUS: Appears in 1841 and 1851 censuses, then a gap till the 1881 census where he re-appears with his sister Eliza. Both unmarried. Age in the 1881 census is totally wrong, but confirmation of right person with his occupation and his sister age, birth place and occupation.

DEATH: Death index entry (3b/216) for an Amos exists in 2Q1902. Location is Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Does this cover the Luton Union Workhouse where he lived in 1891 and 1901? Age is noted as 72.

MARRIAGE: A marriage index entry (7a/602) exists for a Amos Sturgess in 4Q1875 in Leicester, Leicestershire. Possible, but noted as unmarried in 1881 census so either not the right entry or a short marriage. Leicester is some distance away from Hertfordshire but it is possible he moved there for a time.
