Peter Thomas Axtell

(April 14, 1968 - April 3, 2007)

Peter Thomas Axtell, 38, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in New Britain Connecticut, of heart failure.

Peter Thomas Axtell was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Dale and Toni Axtell, on April 14, 1968. At age 4, his family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he was raised. Peter went on to graduate in 1986 from Lincoln High School, where he was a three year member of the varsity football team. After graduation, he was united in marriage to Michelle Sullivan. Along with being a loyal husband, Pete was a proud father to Anthony and Sarah.

He (and his “my buddy”) patriotically served his country for 12 years as a Nuclear Machinist Mate aboard several submarines. He was a Persian Gulf Veteran. Following his naval career, he began work with Power & Process, Inc. in Connecticut, where he started a service division. He was employed from 1998 to present as service manager and field service coordinator.

Pete became a proud grandfather to Mathias just two days prior to becoming a first time uncle to McKennah. His passions were his family, football, hockey, darts, pool and his career.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Dale L. Axtell and Toni Axtell; his sister, Roxanne Kasa and her husband, Roger and their daughter, McKennah; his brother, Michael; grandmother, Rosalie; his children, Tony and Sarah; his grandson, Mathias; and longtime friend, Michelle, all of Sioux Falls. There were also numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dale H. Axtell; a grandmother, Gloria “Bima” Steinke; and a great aunt, Lila Ballman.

He will also be missed by his “other family”, the Power & Process, Inc. employees in Connecticut, the Acorn Vac, Inc. employees in California, the Berlin Station in Connecticut, and many friends whose paths he crossed.

He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, coworker and above all, friend to many. We love you Pete! “Till the roads…………………..

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in East Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic, SD. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 - 9:00 pm Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location.2
