623. Yarmouth. Walter Asketel and Catherine his wife and Joan mother of Catherine were taken on suspicion for possession of stolen goods, viz. one blue tunic, one perse surcoat worth 2s. which Adam of Wroxham confessed to stealing before the coroner of Great Yarmouth. Adam of Wroxham was a confessed thief and had abjured the realm. The accused come and put themselves on the country. Walter and Joan are acquitted. The jurors say that Catherine is guilty. She is to be hanged. Catherine says that she is pregnant. Six matrons examine her and confirm that she is pregnant. She is returned to prison. The value of the pilfer is 2s. and the city of Great Yarmouth responds.1
