Note on Husband: Harold Lucius AXTELL

b. May 24, 1876, in West Medway, Mass. Was educated at Kalamazoo College and University of Chicago, from which he received the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy. He taught in Des Moines College, 1898-1900; was a graduate student and traveling fellow of the University of Chicago, and student of the American School of Classical Studies, Rome, Italy, 1900-1902. In 1902 he joined the faculty of the University of Idaho in which he has served as principal of the preparatory school, chairman of the Committee on Admissions, acting dean of the College of Letters and Science, and professor and head of the department of classical languages, which position he still holds. Dr. Axtell is author of books and articles on Latin topics published in periodicals. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. June 30, 1908 he married Gertrude Sarah Bouton of Hart, Mich., a graduate and member of Phi Beta Kappa of the University of Chicago. [axb45.ged]
