b. Jan. 29, 1859 in Hyannis, Mass. Married Clara Louise Sprague at Westfield, Mass., Nov. 24, 1881, and lived to celebrate their 50th anniversary on Nov. 24, 1931. He lived in Springfield, Mass., until his death Nov. 24, 1932, where for many years he had been engaged in the printing and engraving business. He was Pres. of the C. S. Axtell Company of Springfield, where "The Sign of the Ax" is the sign of the finest work in the art. He had no children but raised as his own three of his wife's brother's children. [axb45.ged]

 

Charles Sumner Axtell (January 29, 1859 - November 24, 1932) was an American sport shooter, who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. In the 1908 Olympics he won a gold medal in the team pistol event and finished in fourth place in the individual pistol event. [Wikipedia]
