Note on Husband: Thomas AXTELL

b. in Grafton, Mass., May 2, 1783, and always resided in that town. He m.

Hannah Walker, of Worcester, Mass., in 1808. He died Oct. 21, 1824, a victim

to the senseless practice of medicine in vogue at that time. Taken violently

ill with typhoid fever, he was denied both water and fresh air and of course

succumbed to the disease. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of

Grafton, a kind father, a faithful friend, and a useful citizen. His widow

survived him 46 years, dying in 1870 at the age of 80. An excellent woman and

a tender mother, her memory still lives in the hearts of her grandchildren.

Note on Wife: Hannah WALKER

of Worcester, Mass.
