Obituary

PEARL G. HOPKINS

TRUMANSBURG - Pearl G. Hopkins of 2 Congress St., Trumansburg, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the age of 103.

She was born Gladys Pearl Adams in Rio, IL on October 11, 1899, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Mount) Adams. A year later she moved with her family to Liberty, NE, then in 1918 to Trumansburg, NY.

A true pioneer whose life spanned three centuries, Pearl embraced each day with enthusiasm. Her devotion to family was unwavering and each member will hold a special place in their hearts remembering sound advice, wonderful home-cooked meals and mouth-watering ginger cookies.

Pearl was the oldest member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Blanche and Florence Adams, and Velma Oxley; a brother, Cleo Adams; and her husband, George E. "Ted" Hopkins, who died in 1987. Pearl is survived by two daughters, Evelyn (who devoted the past four years to her mother's care at home) (Douglas) Carey of Trumansburg and Carol (Philip) Farnham of NY City; a son, George Robert (Patricia) Hopkins of Angelica, NY; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Bonnie (Brian) Ouellette of Endicott, NY & Matthew and Holly Price of Port Crane, NY, Ted (Therese) Carey & Christopher of Lisle, NY, Amy Carey (Bob Buford) of Austin, TX, Kristi (Andrew) Thompson & Sawyer and Nolan of Oakland, CA, Anne (Clay) Taylor & Ellie and Hannah of Berkeley, CA, James R.
