Note on Wife: Elizabeth AXTELL

An Axtell/Mount family history says that her father was really Nathan and that her mother died young and an aunt raised her until she went to Illinois to live with her uncle Thomas. This is unlikely since her uncle Nathan was only 11 when she was born according to Axtell sources and family dates. It is Elizabeth's mother Sarah who died young and she may have lived away from the family when she was young, her mother was also an Axtell by heritage.

Elizabeth is found in the 1850 Illinois census, Knox Co., Cedar Twp. She is age 20 and born in PA. She is with Thomas and her stepmother, Mary.

She is found in the 1900 NE census living with Embly, it says that she is 78 and was born in 1821. She is literate.

She died at 79 years, 8 months and 21 days in Beaver City, Furnas Co. where her daughter Alice lived. However, E.I. Moore was the informant. She died of chronic Bright's Disease according to the physician. FA Brewster of Beaver City. She died two months after her husband died.

Her obituary was in the Beaver City Times Tribune on 24 September 1909. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Moore . She had come to Beaver City after Embly died two weeks previous. Services were held at the Moores, the Reverend L.F. Powell officiated. She was born in PA and moved to Warren County, IL as a girl. She and Embly moved to Gage Co., Nebraska in 1883. She was raised as a Methodist and belonged to that church all her life.
